Cardiff Reject Rumours

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale says there is absolutely no truth in the rumours that Cardiff are chasing Gary Roberts and Nicky Maynard.

The Welsh club had been linked to both players over the past few weeks with them thought to be front runners for Roberts’ signature.

However, the rumours have now been shot down by how-not-to-run-a-football-club expert Peter Ridsdale. The Cardiff chairman says they are complete rubbish, as the Bluebirds look to capture 30 year old Marcus Bent and 35 year old Kevin Phillips.

Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo: “In both instances it is just pure rubbish,”

“We have not made an offer to Crewe, but have not even made an enquiry about either player.

“There is no truth in these rumours whatsoever.”

Yesterday Steve Holland revealed that one Championship club were speaking to the Alex about a potential deal for Gary Roberts whilst last week it was reported that the club had rejected two bids for Nicky Maynard.

Cannot understand how any accountant at a club would allow this man anywhere near the purse strings.
