Dario Gradi has announced that Neil Cox will be the club’s next captain following Kenny Lunt’s departure. Lunt would have remained captain had he stayed with the club, but his departure vacated the captaincy.
Dario had previously stated that Steve Foster would be unlikely to captain the club due to his capacity to ‘get in a muddle’, though Tony Grant had been another name in the captaincy frame. Cox’s signing, however, means we will have a more vocal captain next season, hopefully able to provide more character and steel in a side that conceded 35 points from winning positions last season.
