Assistant manager Neil Baker believes Crewe Alexandra might already have a capable deputy for Abdul Osman.

“He is a work in progress at the moment but he works hard and is a lovely lad” – Neil Baker

Teenage midfielder Liam Nolan impressed during the recent pre-season friendly win at Nantwich Town and also appeared against Championship visitors Blackburn Rovers earlier this week.

“Some of our supporters might not be aware of Liam or seen him play all that often but he might just do what Abdul does for us,” Baker told Crewe’s official website. “He isn’t going to come in and spray Murphy-like passes around but what he has got is that he is comfortable on the ball.

“He is a work in progress at the moment but he works hard and is a lovely lad to work with,” he added.
