Canaries to ‘Experiment’

Norwich are expected to field a combination of first team players and youth players in tomorrow’s game at Sheffield Wednesday. It is no longer mathematically possible for Norwich to make the play-offs resulting in Nigel Worthington shifting his focus to next season. Injuries to Leon McKenzie, Paul McVeigh, Youssef Safri, Matty Louis-Jean and Darren Ward have meant that the City boss is ‘looking to give people an opporunity’. Worthington said, ‘There will be a couple of new faces in the starting line-up as we look at experimenting and so on.’ Amongst the youngsters involved will be forward Ryan Jarvis and defender Micky Spillane. Meanwhile, Owls boss Paul Sturrock has no new injury concerns.

Vital Crewe wish Norwich, Plymouth and Ipswich the very best of luck in tomorrow’s games.

I feel sorry Crewe, as it seems that your heroic effort to stay up may be scuppered by just this sort of scenario. Come on Norwich. Play the game!

agree completely, just because norwich have nothing to play for they dont seem to realise the effect on other teams

Doesn’t matter – Norwich have done what they needed to this season and are entitled to experiment if they want to prepare for next year. They don’t have to consider Crewe or Brighton or anyone else, just as when sides play a weakened team in the 6th group match of the Champions League knowing it might affect the other qualifying place.

to be fair we outplayed them for much of the game. Only 1 youth was given his full debut at right-back and he acctually played very well. Norwich were unlucky not to win or draw
