Bury Sign Chris Stokes

|

Bury have signed former Crewe Alexandra loanee Chris Stokes on a 2-year deal yesterday following him leaving Coventry City earlier in the summer.

Stokes, 27, started his career at Bolton Wanderers before he joined the Alex on a month-long loan (making 2 appearances in the spring of 2010) and, despite a trial offer with the Alex following his release from the Trotters that summer, he rejected the offer from Crewe of joining permanently but joined Forest Green Rovers (via a short spell at Swindon Supermarine) near the end of 2010. He initially joined Coventry on loan in February 2015 before making the permanent move to the Sky Blues that summer after he was released by the Green Army.

He joins former Alex players Ryan Lowe (who is player/manager), Byron Moore, Chris Dagnall and former loanee Harry Bunn at Gigg Lane.

What are the Shakers going to get from Stokes?

I can’t remember too much of his spell at the Alex but he’s a left-back that has played a number of games for Coventry as a centre-back during an injury crisis at the start of last season.
