League Two rivals Burton Albion have made an enquiry about the Alex’s transfer listed striker Anthony Elding.

Elding was told he was free to leave the club last week after a torrid 14 months with the club, which have seen him fail to find the net in the last year.

With Clayton Donaldson, Calvin Zola, Shaun Miller, Joel Grant and Byron Moore all able to play up front it’s left Elding way down the pecking order with little chance of regular first team action.

Plenty of interest can be expected for the former Leeds man, having a goal ratio of over 1 goal in 2 for Stockport and Stevenage in the past there should be plenty of potential to be unleashed, if you can find it in him.

Speaking to the official website Dario confirmed that Burton have made their interest known, although any potential deal is likely to be quite a way off.

I have had to be fair to Anthony because there are a few players ahead of him. I could have said you are 6th choice and get on with it, but he needs to be playing somewhere.

‘I have had a message from Burton asking about the situation so that is something we will follow up.’
