Burton Persist With Zola

Burton Albion are keeping up the chase for Northampton target Calvin Zola with Brewers manager Paul Peschisolido saying he’d still like the 6ft 3in striker in his team.

Zola has already turned down a loan move to Albion, along Bradford, Shrewsbury and Southend, as he seems to be preferring a permanent move away from Gresty Road… and a wage increase. With Northampton confirming their interest this week, the Cobblers chairman has hinted he may be willing to splash the cash for Calvin.

Paul Peschisolido isn’t for giving up though and whilst Burton won’t have the money to tempt Zola on a permanent deal, Pesch is still hoping to convince Zola of a short term stay at the Pirelli. Speaking to the BurtonMail.co.uk, Peschisolido said he’ll keep trying:

“I`ll keep trying to get him to Burton.

“It looked as though Shrewsbury were favourites to sign him, so I wouldn`t rule anything out at this stage.”

Meanwhile, Dario says he still expects Zola to play some part in today’s reserve friendly against Liverpool. The Alex are sending a fairly strong fringe side to Merseyside later today with the team set to include the likes of Steve Phillips, Byron Moore, Shaun Miller and Ajay Leitch-Smith.
