Crewe were rocked this morning with the news that defender Marlon Broomes has been re-called by Blackpool.

The experienced centre half has played a big part in our resurgence in recent weeks and whilst the club knew a 24 hour recall option was in place you can’t under estimate how big a loss it is.

Broomes was immediately put into Blackpool’s squad to face Norwich today, warming the bench in the Seasider’s 2-0 win. Thankfully his departure didn’t have much effect on our result today with us easing to a 2-1 win, the defence was barely called into action.

The good news is that if Blackpool’s current injury problems ease then Marlon could be back as early as next week. Let’s hope so!
