Former captain Dave Brammer has returned, but we won’t be seeing the midfielder back in red any time soon.

Now at Millwall, Brammer is using Reaseheath training ground to keep fit as his time with the Lions slowly comes to an end. However, Steve Holland was quick to stem any possible talk of a return for Brammer, who at his peak would have been the ideal solution to our current problems.

Holland though told crewealex.net that the 33 year old isn’t in the frame for a return to the club, and Brammer understands that: ‘We will always try to help if we can and Dave is always good to have around the place anyway. There is nothing in it and I think it is important to state that before the rumours start flying around.

‘Dave knows the situation and he is fine with that. He is injury-free but wants to work on his fitness levels and we are more than happy to oblige. It is important we get the right message across.’

Brammer signed for Crewe in 2001 and made over 100 appearances for the club over a 3 year period. He left for rivals Stoke in 2004 after lengthy contract talks failed to produce a deal and has since struggle to find the form that made him a fans favourite at Gresty Road.
