Crewe Alexandra suffered a first defeat in five away games as Blackpool moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 victory at Bloomfield Road.

On loan full-back Hayden White struck from the edge of the area with more than an hour played and Jack Redshaw added a late penalty.

Brad Inman sent an early effort wide for the visitors and goalkeeper Craig Doyle denied David Fox, while Mark Cullen saw his reply taken by Ben Garratt, who then superbly kept out Jim McAlister.

But the Seasiders still went in front through White’s deflected 64th minute drive following a cross by Tom Aldred.

Redshaw should really have added another from a Cullen delivery but couldn’t keep his finish down, and was later thwarted by Garratt at the second attempt.

However, the former Morecambe striker ended any doubt as to the outcome when converting an 87th minute penalty after Chris Atkinson fouled David Norris.
