|

A goal from Miguel Fernandez on the hour-mark was enough for Birmingham City to beat Crewe Alexandra in the Under-23 Professional Development League game at Reaseheath this afternoon.

Manager Alex Morris was named Dave Richards in goal as captain with a back 4 of Abdul Djalo, Travis Johnson, Luke Offord and Jack Goodrich in front of him. In midfield, Josh Lundstram and Joe Robbins played centrally with Aaron Lomas and Tyreece Onyewa on the flanks with Regan Griffiths playing off Connor Heath up front. On the bench were goalkeeper Sam Booth, Ethan Hartshorn, Oliver Southern and Daniel Lokko.

The visitors had the post 10 minutes before the break with Fernandez having an effort saved by Richards while Lundstram headed a Griffiths corner against the post 10 minutes after the break. The only goal of the game came on the hour-mark with Fernandez finding the bottom corner

The next couple of games for the Under-23s see a trip to Runcorn Linnets in the Cheshire Senior Cup this Wednesday before a trip to Burnley next Monday afternoon.
