Crewe will be guaranteed just £500k from Preston North End for Billy Jones, but it could rise to £1million, it was decided at today’s tribunal.

Preston had already paid £200,000 to see the transfer through but the Football League ordered an extra £50,000 to be paid immediately. Another £250,000 will be paid in the new year to take the guaranteed fee to £500,000.

Crewe will also be entilted to add-ons. For every 15 appearances Jones makes for Preston, Crewe will recieve £62,500 up to his 60th appearance for the club (an extra £250,000 if all appearances are met).

An extra £250,000 will be paid if Preston achieve promotion to the Premier League in Billy’s spell at Preston.

Crewe will also take a 20% of any profit Preston make from any future sale of Billy Jones.

In total, Crewe could receive £1million plus a sell on.
