Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis hopes experienced goalkeeper Steve Phillips will enjoy a landmark 600th career appearance at Oldham Athletic this weekend.

“He will want it to be a big day for him and I hope he can remember it for the right reasons” – Steve Davis

The 35-year-old will also be marking his 100th league appearance for the club since joining them from Bristol Rovers more than three years ago.

“To play 600 games is a great achievement and he can be pleased he has been able to play that amount of games at a decent level,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle . “You always want to reach targets and I think Steve will have targeted 600 games over the past couple of seasons.

“He’ll want it to be a special day for the right reasons – he won’t want to be associated with 600 games and six goals going in his net,” he continued. “He will want it to be a big day for him and I hope he can remember it for the right reasons.”
