Barnet manager Mark Stimson says his players will pay back the travelling Barnet faithful out of their own pockets following Saturday.

And quite right too. As much as we’ve enjoyed the last few days, there were over 100 brave souls from Barnet who witnessed some real dross from their players on Saturday.

If only some Alex players from the last 5 years paid us back for some of their performances… They’d still be paying off their debts now.

Back with Stimson, well he was as apologetic as you’d expect from a manager whose team had been embarrassed…

‘I am more than shell-shocked. That was nowhere near what we expected and I didn’t see it coming,’ said Stimson.

‘Apologies to the supporters who travelled a long way here and spent a lot of money to get here. I’ve told the players they have to put some money back in their (fans) pockets and we’ll make some sacrifices like they do.

‘Unfortunately I’ve been manager when my side has conceded seven goals before. When I was at Gillingham we conceded seven goals to Shrewsbury but at the end of the same season we beat them 1-0 in the play-off final. That’s the kind of response I’ll be looking for.’
