The deal to bring Lee Barnard in on loan from Tottenham Hotspur has hit a snag. Barnard says he wants to come but the club have hit stumbling blocks such as the length of his loan, wages and bonuses.
One potential deal wrecker is interest from other clubs. Millwall have had a long term interest in Barnard and were expected to tie up a loan deal as early as June but have cooled their interest over time. With Darren Byfield wanting out of The Den though, it is thought Barnard could be number 1 on the hit list.
Barnard, though, looks to be snubbing all other interest in favour of a move to Gresty Road. Dario told CreweAlex.net:
‘The lad wants to come. Steve has spoken with him and he is keen to come here but we will have to wait and see because there is an issue over the length of the deal, his wages and bonuses. We hope to sort that out as soon as we can.
‘There are several other interested parties involved but Lee has indicated that he wants to come here.
‘I think he has spoken to Danny Murphy and that will have helped.’
Dario says that the deal won’t be done before Wednesday’s game against Hull but hopes Barnard will be on board before the away trip to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

just pay the fecking wages and bonuses, we aint strap for cash, strikers we are!
Tottenham being the arses in this one. What difference it’d make to them if they had to pay an extra £500 of his wages I don’t know.
Good that he wants to play for us, makes a change!
I agree, lets stump up the cash because we only look as striker away from a top 6 side.
We want to win the reserve league again, so he aint going anywhere! lol
