West Brom are the latest amongst a host of Premiership clubs to be credited with an interest in Crewe’s Billy Jones. Man City were believed to previously be leading the chase, with Stuart Pearce seen on numerous occasions watching the versatile youngster. Baggies boss Bryan Robson is believed to have been impressed by what he has seen of the youngster, who can play in defence or midfield, and has sent scout Mick Brown to watch Jones on various occasions. Robson splashed £3m on ex-Luton defender Curtis Davies in January, who has since earned very positive reviews. Robson now appears to move for another Championship youngster, with West Brom proven to be willing to pay for young talent. However, any such move would be extremely unlikely to occur should Albion fail to retain their Premiership status. It is believed that Billy would command a fee of £3m + add ons, whose 8 goals this season have highlighted his potential to bigger clubs.

He won’t go yet anyway. He’s not ready for the Prem and won’t be for a couple of years. There’s no story here.
