Steve Phillips was comfortable victor of Vital Crewe’s Player of the Month vote for August.

With 33% of the vote, even the chasing Adam Dugdale (23%) and Carl Martin (14%) couldn’t trouble the Somerset man.

Phillips rightfully regained his place in goal this season after injury and a Rhys Taylor loan made a misery of last season. Despite the goals against column still not perfect this season, not to mention the five August defeats, Phillips was blameless as he only sought to limit the damage those in front of him were doing in the opening three weeks of the season.

The last week and opening game of September has seen the tide turn in results and Phillips claim a couple of clean sheets his own performances have deserved.

A new poll is up, who was your man of the match against Oxford? At the moment it seems as though there’s no catching Adam Dugdale who’s already received over 50% of the vote!
