Lee Barnard has today completed his long awaited move to Crewe, The Tottenham youngster has finally put pen to paper on a five month loan deal.
Barnard has been linked with the club ever since the 2,500,000 departure of Luke Varney to Charlton. Crewe have beaten off stiff competition for his signature which included a host of Championship clubs and SPL side Motherwell.
The delay in the deal was because he a slight injury problem. That has now healed up and the player was as good as his word and signed on the dotted line this morning. Barnard will add firepower to the attack that has struggled in recent weeks.
He broke in to the Tottenham senior side in the 2004/05 season and came on as a 2nd half sub in the match against Manchester United but has since falling down the pecking order. He missed a lot of last season with injury and is now looking for competitive action at Crewe to reignite his career.
The 23 year old striker who was born in Dartford has had previous loan spells at Leyton Orient and Northampton but is yet to score a goal in the professional game but he has an outstanding record in the Premier League reserve league and is held in high regard by the Tottenham management team.
