Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis aims to keep a firm hold of midfielder Ashley Westwood despite interest from elsewhere.

Davis has already received approaches for the 22-year-old prospect, with Championship pair Blackpool and Peterborough United both understood to be interested – although neither has yet submitted a firm offer.

“They were just inquiries, but we have had inquiries about all our players, so there is no real point in talking about them until clubs have made offers,” Davis told This is Staffordshire. “Our players are going to be in the spotlight because of what happened last season when we got through our play-off semi-final games and the final, which was televised.”

Westwood is actually under contract with the club until 2014 and started 39 games last season as Alex swept to their Wembley promotion.
