Are the play-offs a possibility? Miller thinks so.

Shaun Miller isn’t discounting the possibility of the Railwaymen making the play-offs this season despite being 10 points off the pace.

Miller netted his sixth goal of the season in yesterday’s 1-0 win at Vale park, securing the bragging rights from the local derby and denting Vale’s play-off dreams in the process.

Confidence boosted, Miller now says that if the Alex can put a run together then there’s nothing stopping us sneaking in to the top 7 come May.

Miller told BBC Sport: ‘It’s given us a great lift because Vale are looking to sneak into the play-offs.

‘We’ve got quite a few more of those teams coming up and you never know if we can get on a good run.’

Whilst not an impossibility you would be hard pushed to find a Crewe fan with similar views.

With eight games remaining we would need a minimum of six wins before the end of the season to even stand a chance, with 8 wins on the trot still no guarantee of a top 7 spot.

It’s a tough run of fixtures coming up with five of the eight still harbouring very realistic promotion hopes, including the likes of Rotherham, Bury and Shrewsbury. I think we’ll be doing well to make the top half, never mind the play-offs.

It’s nice that confidence is flowing in the changing rooms but one win against Port Vale doesn’t make the season. Right now we’ve got to be aiming for a strong end to the season to take into the summer and build upon for 2010-2011.
