Another Point On The Road But Alex Drop Out Of Top 3

|

Second-half goals from Daniel Powell and Ollie Finney helped Crewe Alexandra to a draw at Glanford Park against Scunthorpe United yesterday afternoon.

Manager David Artell made 2 changes from Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at Macclesfield Town as Finney and Callum Ainley return to the side with Paul Green and Charlie Kirk both dropping down to the bench where they were joined by Luke Offord, following his loan spell at Nantwich Town. Alex Academy Alumni Junior Brown and Matty Lund would start for the hosts.

The Iron took the lead on 15 minutes with centre-back Bedeau heading home a corner before the Alex levelled just after the break with Ainley playing in Powell who cut in off the left-wing to curl past Watson less than a minute after the break. The visitors would take the lead on 69 minutes as Finney’s mis-hit shot was missed by Chuma Anene and Powell to find the bottom corner before the Iron would level with Brown finding van Veen whose effort beat Jaaskelainen from outside the box 4 minutes later.

Our next two games Leyton Orient travel up to South Cheshire on Tuesday night before a trip to Walsall next Saturday.

What can we learn from this game?

It was another game where we’ve conceded from a set-piece (though it looked like a foul on Will) but we need to find a way of defending better, especially in the first half, where we give away free-kicks in dangerous areas and corners.
