Another Penalty Save Denies Forest All 3 Points

|

A first-half penalty save from Dave Richards helped Crewe Alexandra to a point after a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest in the Under-23 Professional Development League at Reaseheath this afternoon, despite a second-half red card for Ollie Finney.

Manager Alex Morris named Richards in goal with a back 4 of Travis Johnson, Billy Sass-Davies, Luke Offord and Rio Adebisi in front of him. In midfield, Josh Lundstram and Finney played centrally with Regan Griffiths and trialist Aaron Knight on the wings while Connor Heath played off Lewis Reilly up front. On the bench for the Alex were goalkeeper Daniel Lloyd, Aaron Lomas, Joe Robbins, Tyreece Onyeka and Abdul Djalo.

Whilst there were no goals this afternoon, Richards would save from Forest midfielder Brennan Johnson 8 minutes before the break while Finney was shown a red card with 10 minutes left to play

After the Cheshire Senior Cup game against Runcorn (that was scheduled for this Wednesday) was postponed, the next couple of games scheduled for the Under-23s are a trip to Barnsley a week tomorrow before hosting Millwall at Reaseheath on Monday 11th.
