Another International Call-Up For Will

|

Will Jaaskelainen has been called up for the Finland Under-21 international team for their two away games against Northern Ireland on Friday and Denmark the following Tuesday (link in Finnish), meaning that he will miss the home game against Wigan next Saturday should that take place as scheduled.

Jaaskelainen, 22, has already made 7 appearances for his nation at that level and will be competing with fellow goalkeeper Hugo Keto (who plays for HJK in his homeland) for the goalkeeping position as the young Finns go into the double-header with 7 points from 7 games and look to finish above both Ukraine (who also have 7 points but a better head-to-head, having played a game less) and Northern Ireland, who have 6 points. Unfortunately, they cannot qualify for the finals tournament that takes place in Hungary and Slovenia across the March international break and the start of the summer.

He joins Aapo Halme of Barnsley, Jaakko Oksanen from AFC Wimbledon and Brentford’s Marcus Forss in the squad that also play for EFL clubs.
