Thomas Leaves On Deadline Day

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that defender Terell Thomas has left the club by mutual consent, leaving him free to join a club either later on Deadline Day or after it closes as a free agent.

Thomas, 26, started his career at Charlton Athletic and had spells at Woking, Wigan Athletic, Sutton United and AFC Wimbledon before joining the Alex last summer, making 18 appearances for the club in all competitions (his last in the league at former club AFC Wimbledon back in November having played the 2 EFL Trophy games since then).

What does the departure of Thomas mean for the Alex?

It leaves the Alex potentially short of defensive options without playing players out of position should the club continue playing with 3 centre-backs – only Luke Offord, Billy Sass-Davies, Zac Williams, Connor O’Riordan are the centre-back options currently at the club although Travis Johnson has filled in there earlier this month with Sean Lawton, Joel Tabiner and Nathan Woodthorpe also filling in during youth team games when needed.
