Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that versatile midfielder Regan Griffiths has signed a 12-month extension to his deal at the club with his previous deal set to expire this summer.

Griffiths, 19, has yet to make his first-team debut but has been a regular for Alex Morris’ Under-23 side either playing in his preferred central midfield position or even as a false 9.

No news has come out about either Travis Johnson nor Jordan Bowery, who are the final players whose current deals expire this summer that haven’t either signed new deals nor are leaving the club when their deals expire next month.

What does this mean going forward?

He’s another typical Alex diminutive midfielder that looks to get on the ball and play (similar to Tom Lowery) but plays just in front of the defensive line. He’s another player that we’ll more than likely use in different positions in Morris’ team, potentially in the first team in the Trophy games, rather than being loaned out into non-league football
