Dario Gradi has bowed out (for a second time) with a decent point away at Millwall.

The legendary manager did what was asked in his month spell as ‘caretaker boss’, turning Steve Holland’s mess back into a team with belief.

Still some 7 points from safety, it’s an uphill task for the new manager, who is set to be unveiled sometime in the next few days, but going off performances we are not yet down and out.

Yesterday’s point at The New Den closed the gap further and Dario was proud of his team’s defending and battling spirit, telling crewealex.net:

‘It was an excellent point for us because the players have worked really, really hard for that this afternoon. I thought the defending was excellent and the work rate was there from everyone.

‘We have stopped shipping goals for fun and with that has come some confidence because the results have improved. We could play some better football and I still don’t know if this team is strong enough to get out of the mess. I would think the new manager would have to add some more quality in January, once he comes in.’
