Crewe Alexandra are amongst a number of clubs tracking highly-rated French defender Thierry Audel.

“Crewe Alexandra have watched him two or three times and they are also interested” – Colin Brown; agent

The 26-year-old centre-back is out of contract at non-league Macclesfield Town following a short spell there last season.

That has alerted not only the attention of the Railwaymen but also their big rivals Port Vale after a private friendly against the Silkmen last year, plus Notts County and Luton Town.

“Port Vale have been showing a strong interest in Thierry since that game,” player agent Colin Brown told This is Staffordshire. “They were asking about him before the end of the season and they have been in touch again.

“But they’re not the only ones who’d like to sign him,” he continued. “Crewe Alexandra have watched him two or three times and they are also interested, while we’ve had contact from Notts County and Luton Town too.”
