He later made in excess of a hundred appearances for Northampton over a couple of years, during when he netted the winning penalty in a shoot-out to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the League Cup.

“He’s a player that was here five years ago and went on to have a decent spell with Northampton playing in League One and League Two,” Crewe manager Steve Davis told This is Staffordshire. “He played in the top league in Greece and did well.

“He likes to play football and he’s good on the ball,” he added. “He’s got training and one or two friendlies to impress and if we can sort something out financially we will do it.”
