Crewe Alexandra remain unbeaten in six games but they had to come from behind for a 2-2 draw following a dreadful start at Rochdale.

The Spotland outfit were two goals up after only six minutes with Rhys Bennett heading in on ninety seconds and Joe Bunney swiftly doubling that advantage.

However, Marcus Haber pulled a goal back midway through the opening half before on loan striker Ryan Seager rapidly drew the visitors level with his first senior goal.

The Railwaymen couldn’t have experienced a worse opening as Nathaniel Mendez-Laing skipped beyond Zoumana Bakayogo and delivered for Bennett to send a looping header over Ben Garratt.

The situation grew even worse moments later with Bennett stealing possession from Ollie Turton and allowing Ian Henderson to cross for Bunney to turn in a second goal.

Twenty-year-old Seagar at least forced keeper Josh Lillis into a low stop at the other end before Ben Nugent helped on Semi Ajayi’s cross for Canadian striker Haber to halve the deficit from close-range.

And the busy action continued with David Fox releasing Brad Inman to cross for Seagar to slot in an equaliser from six-yards just three minutes later.

But the young Southampton forward then suffered an unfortunate ankle injury and had to be stretchered off.

Goalscorer Bunney and Michael Rose later threatened for the home side and Haber headed over Bakayogo’s cross towards the opposite end.
