Crewe Alexandra are already preparing themselves for likely bids for skipper Luke Murphy during the January transfer window.

“I’ve had no enquiries about any of my players” – Steve Davis

The 23-year-old midfielder has continued to impress at Gresty Road this season and Premier League Stoke City are one of his most recent admirers.

Murphy is currently contracted with the club until 2014 but could still be the next talent to follow the likes of Nick Powell and Ashley Westwood to a higher level.

“As manager of Crewe it is inevitable that you’ll lose one or two along the way because of the work we do in the academy,” manager Steve Davis admitted to the Crewe & Nantwich Guardian. “But I’ve had no enquiries about any of my players.

“We’re always fair here and if we hear from anyone we talk to the player and take it from there,” he added. “You just don’t know what can happen in the transfer window.”
