Steve Davis won’t be getting carried away despite an eighth victory in nine pre-season games last night.

Defender Adam Dugdale netted the only goal as unbeaten Alex defeated fellow recent Wembley heroes Huddersfield Town 1-0 at Gresty Road.

It followed their 1-1 weekend draw against Bolton Wanderers, who were only relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

“We knew it would be a stern test against a promoted side,” Davis told This is Staffordshire. “Huddersfield were one of the best sides in League One last season.”

Alex next visit Conference side Tamworth at the weekend before completing their pre-season programme at home to Barnsley next Tuesday.
