Gunnar Mar Gudmundsson and Gunnleifur Gunnleifsson are both being linked with a move to Gresty Road.

It comes as no surprise that Icelandic players galore are being linked to us following the appointment of Thordarson. The former Barnsley boss is known to use his Icelandic contacts and exhausted them whilst at Stoke.

Reports in Iceland seem pretty convinced that two players are mulling over offers from us. Goalkeeper Gunnleifur Gunnleifsson is said to have been offered a deal by Thordarson but is yet to decide. The 33 year old currently plays for Icelandic 2nd Division side HK Kópavogur with five Iceland national call ups.

Gunnar Mar Gudmundsson meanwhile is a midfielder with an impressive scoring record currently playing for Icelandic Premier side Fjölnir. Some Icelandic media sources suggest that Gudmundsson could arrive as early as Friday with a view of a loan deal.

Obviously it’s impossible to say if either are ‘better than what we’ve got’ but it’s nice to see some moves being made outside the North of England.

Let’s just hope they can fit the names on the back of the shirts…
