Crewe Alexandra have drawn Carlisle United at home in this evening’s FA Cup draw that took place at Hitchin Town’s Top Field Stadium with the tie will place at the Alexandra Stadium across the weekend of November 9th-12th with the replay set to take place on 20th/21st November if required.
The two clubs have met 4 times in the FA Cup with Carlisle United winning the first meeting in December 1929, Crewe advanced after a replay at Gresty Road in November 1991 and the Alex also won the last meeting in the competition in December 2008.
Is that a good draw for the Alex?
In terms of advancing, yes I think it is with the Cumbrians only winning 2 of their last 7 games (losing the other 5) but, as far as it being an interesting tie, it’s about as dull as it could have been as a League 1 or non-league team would have been much better.
