Crewe Alexandra crashed to a heavy 5-1 home defeat to Peterborough United at Gresty Road.

Jon Taylor earned an early lead for visitors who netted three times in nine minutes shortly after the interval.

First Conor Washington found the net and Jermaine Anderson then added another as his side further increased their advantage.

It didn’t stop there, with Lee Angol and Anderson both on target either side of Ryan Colclough’s reply.

The visitors took immediate control with Taylor driving low past Ben Garratt after receiving Anderson’s sixth-minute cross.

Crewe came back though with Ben Alnwick called into action by Billy Bingham and Brad Inman, while Colclough and Callum Saunders were both wide of the mark.

However, Washington beat the oncoming Garratt from Erhun Oztumer’s pass straight after the interval, and Anderson’s deflected 25-yard effort found the corner a minute later.

Oztumer was again involved as Angol quickly made it 4-0, although that was reduced when Colclough struck from twenty-yards off an upright.

But Anderson claimed his second of the afternoon from distance to complete the rout inside the final ten minutes.
