Crewe Alexandra should have further options available for their weekend visit to Shrewsbury Town.

Manager Steve Davis was remaining hopeful that both winger Michael West (groin) and full-back Kelvin Mellor (knee) would resume training this week.

Forward pair Max Clayton and Ryan Colclough have already returned while striker AJ Leitch-Smith is currently doing some light running as he continues to recover from ankle ligament damage.

Mellor and West both missed the dramatic weekend recovery against Colchester United as their colleagues came back to eventually triumph 3-2 at Gresty Road.
