Manager Steve Davis remains confident there is enough ability at Crewe Alexandra to make them a force this season.

“They are still coming to terms with this level and we have a relatively young group” – Steve Davis

The Alex have certainly shown plenty of fighting spirit already this term with a number of impressive comebacks, with their latest overturning a two-goal deficit to earn a hugely creditable 3-3 midweek draw at high-flying Sheffield United.

Crewe’s natural flair and attacking potential was enough to attract high levels of praise from a number of Blades’ supporters soon after the game – some even generously labelling them as their most impressive opponents so far this season.

“They are still coming to terms with this level and we have a relatively young group, but performances and results like we have had at Sheffield United, Doncaster and at home to Tranmere and Coventry show that we can compete,” Davis told Crewe’s official website. “The players can take great heart from that because they have shown they are capable.”
