In this column, we look at the teams that the players who featured in the Academy Alumni columns last season will be playing for during the forthcoming season.
Championship:
Both Connor O’Riordan (until 2028) and Harry Pickering (until 2027 with the option of a further year) remain contracted to Blackburn Rovers.
Both Perry Ng (until 2026) and Ryan Wintle (until 2026) remain contracted to Cardiff City.
Promoted Derby County mutually terminated George Nunn’s contract in April with him joining Icelandic top-tier side Handknattleiksfelag Kopavogs (link in Icelandic), where they currently sit in 10th of the 12-team league.
Promoted Oxford United have retained Owen Dale, who joined them in January from Blackpool.
Promoted Portsmouth have retained midfielder Tom Lowery who is contracted for this season.
League 1:
Relegated Huddersfield Town extended the contract of Ollie Turton until the end of this upcoming season.
Peterborough United would complete the signing of defender Rio Adebisi (until 2027) for an undisclosed fee from Crewe Alexandra.
Promoted Stockport County have Nick Powell (until 2026) under contract.
Promoted Wrexham have both James Jones (until 2025) and Billy Waters (until 2025) under contract.
Play-off winners Crawley Town released Travis Johnson at the end of his contract while they would sign defender Toby Mullarkey (until 2026) for an undisclosed fee from Grimbsy.
League 2:
Accrington Stanley released Kelvin Mellor at the end of his contract with the defender rejoining first club Nantwich Town who play in the 8th tier.
Chesterfield completed the signing of Cheyenne Dunkley (until 2027) after his deal at Shrewsbury Town expired this summer while forward Ryan Colclough has extended his deal with the club until the end of the forthcoming season.
Crewe Alexandra released Zak Kempster-Down, Charlie Kirk and Max Woodcock as part of their retained list while defenders Nathan Robinson and Lucas Sant signed their first professional deals for the club.
Grimsby Town would extend the contract of Callum Ainley until the end of this season.
MK Dons would complete the signing of defender Luke Offord on a free transfer after he left Crewe earlier in the summer.
Morecambe have completed the signing of defender George Ray (until 2025 with the option of another year) on a free transfer after he left Barrow earlier in the summer.
Salford City would extend the contract of Matty Lund until the end of the season.
National League:
AFC Fylde would extend the contract of Harry Davis until the end of this season.
Hartlepool United completed the signing of defender Billy Sass-Davies after his contract at Crewe expired in the summer.
Oldham Athletic have Josh Lundstram (until 2025) under contract.
National League North:
Relegated Kidderminster Harriers would extend the contract of Amari Morgan-Smith until the end of the season.
Chester announed that defender Nathan Woodthorpe had the option triggered for his previous deal with his contract now running out at the end of this season.
Marine completed the signing of midfielder Regan Griffiths after his contract at Kidderminster had expired.
Peterborough Sports extended the contract of Matt Tootle until the end of this season.
National League South:
Malachi Linton has signed for Weymouth on a permanent deal following his loan spell there in the second half of last season and his contract at Yeovil Town expiring.
