Liam Nolan Joins Macclesfield Town

|

Macclesfield Town have announced the signing of former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Liam Nolan, who becomes their third signing of the summer, on a 12-month deal following his release from fellow National League side Halifax Town earlier in the summer.

Nolan, 25, started his career with the Alex, making his debut in an EFL Trophy game against in the first of his 29 appearances before leaving for Southport in the summer of 2015. He would spend 2 years at Port as well as Accrington Stanley before joining Halifax last summer.

What are they getting from the signing of Nolan?

I can’t remember too much about Nolan’s time with the Alex beyond him coming through as a central defender before moving into a midfield role for the then-Under-21s side and into the first team.

Without knowing the makeup of the Macc first-team squad for the forthcoming season (they only have the 3 new signings and 2 players who were there last season), it’s hard to see whether he’s going to be one of the more experienced players in the squad or not, but he’s made almost 200 career appearances so far with two-thirds of them being at this level.
