Mellor Joins Morecambe

|

Morecambe have announced that they have signed Kelvin Mellor following his release from Bradford City earlier in the summer, becoming their ninth signing of this transfer window.

Mellor, 29, started his career with Nantwich Town before signing for the Alex as a second-year scholar in 2008. After spending time on loan at the Dabbers, Newcastle Town, Stafford Rangers, Leek Town and Icelandic side IBV, he established himself as a regular in the Alex’s side as he made almost 100 appearances for the first-team before leaving in the summer of 2014. He would move to Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool, where he would spend 2 years at each, before joining Bradford.

He joins AJ Leitch-Smith and fellow new recruit Harry Davis at the club.

What are Morecambe getting from Mellor?

Mellor is a right-back who has played all across the back four whilst at the Alex and has signed for Adams, who was the manager at Plymouth during his second season at their club. He’s someone who has made over 300 career appearances already, despite having a few injury problems over the fast couple of seasons, and will be one of the more experienced players in their defensive unit.
