Malachi Linton Joins Wycombe Wanderers

|

Wycombe Wanderers have completed the signing of former Crewe Alexandra forward Malachi Linton on a free transfer from Southern Premier League side Lowestoft Town as he joins their ‘B’ team following a trial period.

Linton, 19, came through the Alex Academy system after signing from Ipswich Town as a youngster without making a first-team appearance before being released last summer. He would join Lowestoft last summer and would go on to sign a 2-year deal with the club back in November after good form for the Trawler Boys in the early part of the season.

He joins former Alex players Anthony Stewart and Uche Ikpeazu at Adams Park.

What are my thoughts on the move?

Malachi is a central striker who I’ve not seen a lot of during his time with the Alex but he could be another player like Cheyenne Dunkley (who is now at Sheff Wed playing for their first team) that didn’t make a first-team appearance for the Alex but would rebuild his career in the non-league scene before moving back to a Football League club. That said, he’ll be moving to their reserve side that will be playing more friendlies than the current Academy structure that us Alex fans are familiar with, which seems to be working for Brentford as they are regular playoff contenders in the Championship (not that I think that Wycombe will be higher in the league than a relegation scrap).
