In this column, we’ll look at each player that we looked at during last season as well as the moves that have taken place over the summer.

Premier League:

Ashley Westwood remains at Burnley and is contracted until next summer but has an option of another year with the Clarets.

Ben Marshall was set to join Westwood in the Premier League but he had his contract terminated by mutual consent earlier this week by Norwich City.

Championship:

Into the Championship and a change of clubs for Nick Powell as he left Wigan Athletic to join Stoke City this summer.

His former teammate Cheyenne Dunkley remains at the DW Stadium, where he is contracted for this season.

League 1:

Into League 1 where Luke Murphy is still contracted with Bolton Wanderers for another season after their relegation but, with Bolton’s problems off the field, who knows the validity of that deal these days.

Another team that was relegated from the Championship were Rotherham United who have Billy Jones at the club and he is contracted to the club for this season.

Of the teams that have remained in League 1, Accrington Stanley released Liam Nolan at the end of last season and he has yet to sign with a new club.

Two players were at Blackpool last season with Oliver Turton’s contract being extended for this season whilst Max Clayton wasn’t offered a new deal (details on the same link) and hasn’t yet found a club.

Junior Brown remains at Coventry City and is contracted for just this season.

Peterborough United is the location of George Cooper and he’s contracted until the summer of 2021.

Also contracted until 2021 is Portsmouth’s Gareth Evans where he remains their vice-captain.

The promoted sides feature heavily here as League 2 champions Lincoln City have extended Michael O’Connor’s deal which was later revealed to be a 12-month extension.

Tranmere Rovers have signed George Ray on a 2-year deal from ourselves.

Lastly for League 1 are Bury. Nicky Maynard was offered a new deal but left to join Mansfield whilst Byron Moore (who was contracted for another 12 months) has joined Ryan Lowe at Plymouth.

League 2:

Coming down from League 1 were Bradford City who have Kelvin Mellor on their books for this season.

Byron Moore (as mentioned above) has joined Antoni Sarcevic at Plymouth Argyle, both are contracted for just this season.

The final team dropping down to the 4th tier is Scunthorpe United. Matty Lund and Ryan Colclough are our players there who are contracted for just this season and for 2 seasons respectively.

Cheltenham Town midfielder Chris Clements has extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2020.

I’m going to leave out all of the Crewe news as it’s already been covered on the site.

Harry Davis has signed a 12-month extension with Grimsby Town.

As mentioned earlier Mansfield Town completed the signing of Nicky Maynard on a deal.

Morecambe have 3 players to keep an eye on as Ritchie Sutton is contracted for this season, AJ Leitch-Smith extended his deal to 2021 and Shaun Miller joining the club on loan for the season from ourselves.

Northampton have Billy Waters, who is under contract for this season but is available for transfer.

Port Vale signed Dan Trickett-Smith back in January and he’s under contract with the club for another 2 years.

Stevenage released Will Appleyard at the end of last season.

National League:

Relegated into the National League were Notts County who have Matt Tootle under contract for this season whilst David Vaughan was released and has yet to find himself a new club.

AFC Fylde released Andy Bond who later signed for National League North team York City.

Chorley signed Chris Holroyd for this season following his release from Wrexham.

FC Halifax Town signed Will Appleyard for the season.

And finally, in the National League, as well as the aforementioned Holroyd moving on, Mark Carrington signed a new 12-month deal with Wrexham whilst Jason Oswell was already contracted for this season.

Scottish Premier League:

New for this season, we’ll also be following the Scottish Premier League and in particular Hamilton Academical who have signed Owain Fon Williams from Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
