A Quiet Week

It’s been a quiet start to 2010, the lack of football has left little to be excited about.

Dario has already insisted that there will be little to no transfer activity this month at Gresty Road, instead ‘we’ll go with what we’ve got’. Nevertheless it didn’t stop the local media in Swindon link Robins defender Hasney Aljofree with a move North.

Aljofree is currently free to leave the County Ground after over a year on the sidelines following a serious knee injury. The 31 year old has previously had spells at Plymouth and Dundee but the chances of him turning up at Crewe this month seem slim.

Sky Sports meanwhile report that we’re ‘leading the chase’ for non-league star Daniel Gardner. Gardner, who has recently played for Flixton, recently spent a year with Glasgow Celtic before leaving summer. It’s reported that after trials with ourselves and Oldham Athletic the 19 year old has received offers from both.

Departures wise, Anthony Elding completed his move to Hungarian side Ferencvaros on Wednesday. The big old waste of money teams up with English manager Craig Short of Blackburn Rovers fame.

Youngster Alex Titchiner has departed for a loan spell at Colwyn Bay whilst summer signing Patrick Ada has received interest from former club Histon since he was made available for loan.

Saturday meanwhile could present us with our first taste of football in 2010! With temperatures rising rapidly it looks like normal service resumed as we go on our travels to sunny Dagenham (and Redbridge).

However, Dario has been dealt a blow with news that an eye injury will rule Calvin Zola out of the game alongside Joel Grant, who’s still suffering from an ankle injury. Shaun Miller is set to return to the side in Zola’s absence.
