Crewe Alexandra have announced the signing of 5 of the second year scholars to their first professional deals yesterday afternoon. Defenders Billy Sass-Davies, Luke Offord and Travis Johnson as well as midfielders Joe Lynch and Regan Griffiths have all signed 1-year deals with the club.
Sass-Davies is a central defender who has already made his first team debut back in August, becoming the first player born in the 21st century to play for the first team in the process, as he was named in the starting line-up against Newcastle United in the EFL Trophy group game. He is also an international at Under-19 level for Wales.
Offord is a versatile defender who can play all around the back line as well as in central midfield. He has also been on the first team bench where he was an unused substitute against Blackburn Rivers in the FA Cup.
All 5 players will be part of Alex Morris’ Under-23 squad for next season after spending pre-season in Dave Artell’s first-team plans.
